WOW! Eye to eye indeed May I ask what the environment looked like when you shot this ? as you have a very plain BG. Did you shoot it indoors? Clear and detailed shot, I like the colors. I'm not sure if the BG is a bit too dark on the left though.

I shot it outdoors using our glass wall as a bg. The color difference is because I lined up with the aluminum corner peace on one side and the window on the other. No lights on in the house hence the dark glass. It could be a little dark but you know me.

We have a dead branch cemented into the ground at just the right height to get shots like this one of Robber flies. I have 270 degrees of variable backgrounds. Robber flies have a very precise danger zone. My Tamron 90mm lets me get just outside their fly away zone. If I take 15 or 20 shots I often get one like this.

A certain amount of skill, preparation, the right gear and luck. Anyone can do it.
