I really like the grainy look on this image, well done.
Dave
I'm with John and Dave on this, nicely done
Phil
Thanks John, Dave and Phil for the comments. Because of the mixture of old and (relatively) modern structures, I tried to give it an appropriate look......??
Well spotted John, I like both your composition and processing. I just can ever remember seeing this bit of Whitby. Is it upstream beyond the train station on the North side or the river Esk.
This is excellent
Very nice image and PP work John
Thanks Peter, Nandakumar and Binnur for the additional comment.
Peter, the scene in on the South bank of the river opposite the Coates Marine end of the large car park. On Google satellite, the stream that flows under the bridge arch is called Spital Beck. The building on the left is marked as "Harbour Grange" and that on the right is as "Sail Loft Appartments". Isn't Google wonderful.
P.S. If you use street view and drop down onto the road over the bridge, you can view the yacht on its mooring.

Other side of the river Peter on the edge of the car park. We walked along there most days or evenings on the way from the cottage into the town.
A wonderful composition, but I'm afraid I'm the odd one out: the image looks a bit overprocessed and too "crunchy" for my tastes. At this size, I am having a hard time seeing what it is that doesn't sit right with me, but it only affects parts of the image--the stone of the bridges and the foreground. It looks almost as though those sections have been oversharpened.
Just my taste.
Thanks for the comment Dan. I added some structure in just those areas using Nik Vivesa to try and improve the texture. I may have been a bit heavy handed.
