Where to see Gannets

#1 If you are on Alderney in the Channel Islands (that is the ones in the English Channel), you have no difficulty in finding the Gannets. You just follow the signposts.


#2 Before long you reach the clifftop and behold Les Etacs, a group of islets just off the tip of Alderney, absolutely heaving with Gannets.


#3 The distance was just that bit to far for my 300mm lens, but this is the best I could muster:


#4 There are reckoned to be about 6000 pairs on these stacs, plus about 3000 more on Ortac, another island about 7km offshore.

Come to think of it, you have a telescope.You drive. Can you use a telescope as a camera lens with a zoom lens or as a zoom lens? Just curious...

Izzie. Yes I do have a telescope but no, I do not drive! Flying to Alderney on a small plane imposes a more restrictive baggage allowance. So, I left my telescope at home, along with my tripod. Fortunately the light that day was good. Two days previously it was "Gannets in the mist".
