    Changed my approach.

This time I put the R1C1 flash kit away and fitted the SB700 with a 6" rectangular diffuser. Also switch to manual for better control of my settings. 85mm Nikon macro lens.

I will add that as a kid, like most kids, I kinda liked Daddy Long Leg spiders even though I don't like spiders in general. Now that I see them up close I change my mind. They are so ugly and somewhat disturbing

Your 'Daddy Long Legs' spider is actually a Harvestman, not a spider.

They may have 8 legs but are a different group to the true spiders. They don't have a flexible joint between abdomen and thorax, nor any poison glands and just run around in the undergrowth searching for anything edible.
