Seeking to know what this is...a fungus?

Whenever I weed at the side of the house (shade at all time) I seem to find one or two of these around the rocks. We have been having some fungus around the garden lately but of different varieties and hubby said it might be because of the heat and then the rain after a week ... something atmospheric in the air. If someone can tell me what this is, I really really will appreciate it...Thanks...sponge like, isn't it???

I would guess that this is a slime mould. They do lke humid conditions to produce their fruiting bodies. It could possibly be Fuligo, commonly called 'Dog's Vomit'.

Naaahhhhh, it does not even looked close...these ones are hard and the grey thingie that was on each sides are the stones from that part of the garden that I was able to take this one off. But thanks to you ID. I looked at it and Bill was beside me and I showed it to him and he recognized that yellow things like real dog vomit between my rose and the hot chilli peppers and I was watering my plants (107°F here) late in the PM and there was this black smoke coming out from the water touching the yellow throw up like stuffs on the ground. He said the black things were the spores so I stopped watering and he came out bring the garage and put some lime on it. The vomit died. He said lime kills everything. I said lime is the secret ingredient to my lemon and limes on the pot. Anyway, at least we recognized what your link sent us to. Thanks a million.

Thanks John for trying to help too...None of the same kind there of this one either. We went through the list. Whatever it is, it stays in the shade-shade, fully shadey part of my side part of the house. We always seem to have a few of those there attached to the stones and rocks peebles and they are not in a group but far apart from one another.
