Exhibition Eye
The fisheye is one lens I always carry in case of an unplanned opportunity presenting itself. More of DALE CHIHULY's exhibition in the Royal Ontario Museum. Comments welcome.
Fuji X plus Samyang 8mm.

Re: Exhibition Eye
Great image John Your lens seems to have worked fine. The colors also add to the composition a lot.

Re: Exhibition Eye
Nicely done, yes those specialty lenses do so well when you have them available.

Re: Exhibition Eye
I like your image a lot! I like the occasional use of a fisheye lens and will often carry mine (I have a Vivitar 8mm f/3.5) for those specialty shots. If I used a fisheye more often, I might get a more sophisticated fisheye lens with electronic connections to the camera for exposure and focus. OTOH... the DOF is so great that focus is never a problem for me...
Gene Ho makes a lot of interesting points regarding using a fisheye from low and high angles in this YouTube video. I like his idea of shooting a series of shots ranging from floor or ground level up....

OTOH: I really don't think that I would ever try more than two or three fisheye shots in a wedding, But, different strokes for different folks

Re: Exhibition Eye
Wow; this is fantastic; was the wall fully planar or a curvature ?

Re: Exhibition Eye
Thanks all for the comments.
Richard, I've seen Gene Ho's work and was quite struck by the originality and impact of his approach but I agree, it could so easily become a gimmick.
Nandakumar, it was a straight flat wall. The effect was purely created by the lens.

Re: Exhibition Eye
Nice capture John.
Hope you enjoyed the exhibition. I had the pleasure of seeing Dale's extensive outdoor display exhibited at Dallas Arboretum a few years back - superb work.

Re: Exhibition Eye
Such a pretty image, John...very colourful and I like the lighting a lot. I guess it takes practice to use a fisheye lens. I have one which I have a hard time coming to grips with. You chose a good subject to shoot here and your fisheye lens makes it looks so much better.
