Lovely shot Raylee. The colours, DOF and placement are beautiful.

    Re: Day 21 Shock Waves

Walking around Albert Park Lake this morning I noticed the concentric circles emanating from this black swan as it preened itself in the water.

    Celebration Day

It was the last day of school here today for the 'leavers'...this was called 'Muck Up Day' here in Victoria and the students would get up to a few pranks as they farewelled their school. Unfortunately in some cases at some schools they 'went too far' and damage and injury resulted.
Or as my Mother used to say "Too much skylarking will only end in tears".
Our school has for the last 2 years adopted a 'Celebration Day' instead, where the students are still encouraged to dress up, but they come to school and the staff cook them breakfast, before they enjoy a carnival on the grounds with hired 'jumping castles' huge blow up slide, dodgem cars, wrestling in sumo suits, etc........by all accounts a great time was had by all and the public at large & their property was safe

    Day 21: October 2010 PAD

So my shot for today is our daughter & 'besty' and the group as they were leaving our house this morning to enjoy their day....naturally 1 of the Dad's happened to be between gigs with his Bus, so they all travelled together in that.

    Liner

It is raining here in the North. Not much of a day for the tourists on the big cruise liner that arrived in port this morning. I tried to take this shot from pretty much the same spot as one that I posted a few days ago.

Looks like a pretty dodgy drop. By the way Tim, I notice that you post pretty early and I was wondering where you are located.

I’ve been living in Greece for the last 18 or so years.

Re the wine photo. You may have noticed wires over the corks… I bottled the wine slightly too early and as a result, it started to re-ferment in the bottle. I discovered that one day when one of the bottles pooped its cork and shot the wine all over the floor.

To save from wasting any more wine, I wired the corks in. Not tightly, just enough to see if a cork was being pushed out. Anyway, although it was a bit of mistake, the wine was fantastic, and in a glass, bubbled just like good champagne. The only thing was, it’s a bright red colour... but close your eyes and….mmmmm, heaven.

    Old Lime Kiln

    Day 21: October 2010 PAD

This one is in Batson Creek; which won't mean much to most people, but these old kilns are scattered around the estuary shoreline.

In Victorian times, limestone was brought here by sailing boats then burnt in these kilns before being spread on the fields.

    Cruisin'

    Day 21: October 2010 PAD

    Canon 50D, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM @ 200mm, f/4, 1/500s, ISO 200. Full EXIF, PAD slideshow.

I'm cheating today. We're back home, and I did some images of the moon, but they're unacceptable. I need the teleconverter: 200mm isn't enough. Anyway, this is from yesterday, an alligator at a wildlife refuge in the Keys. I had to rescue it a bit, to tone down that strong reflection on the lower left.

    C&C are always welcome.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Since most of you are from the UK and elsewhere, I'll explain that here in the colonies we have a holiday called Halloween which involves ghosts and goblins. Every year our local camera club has a night meeting (near the official date ) in the cemetary and take pictures by moonlight (or other means). I was shooting a tombstone when I saw this fellow rise up. I swear he said "Ah its great to get to stand up and have a smoke". Honest
