The couple of times I have seen a whale breaching, my camera was either not at hand or I was to dumbfounded to actually take some shots.

Glad everyone enjoyed the series. 90 percent of our whale sightings are just the plume of their breath and a sliver of the back as they surface for air. Once in a while the tail emerges when they dive deep. Anything beyond that is pretty rare.
Yes, still alive, well, and shooting. Just been busy plus I took a bit of an internet hiatus.
