Abstract

This photo was captured using a 90mm macro lens and a 36mm extension tube. The scene is a tiny portion of this broken wine bottle. EDIT: To put "tiny" into perspective, the projection onto the APS-C sensor is about 40% larger than the physical scene. A slight crop was made purely to fine-tune the composition.

Setup
The background is white translucent acrylic. A small continuous-light lamp behind the background shines toward the subject and camera. That set up outlines the edges of glass and other areas in dark tones. The image was then rotated 180 degrees.

Apart from the obvious perfection of the lighting and composition I'm intrigued by what the 45 degree line is going up towards the left and the rounded edges of the diagonal line going up towards the right from the same point.

The line going upward toward the left is the seam in the bottle. The line going upward toward the right is a continuation of the line going downward to the left and both are the broken edge of the bottle.
