Awesome composition. Perhaps a bit heavy on the sharpening, particularly on the trees/lighthouse.
Thanks for the comment Dan. The sharpening is too heavy. It also adds an unattractive texture to the surface of the water. The original TIF looks OK on my screen but I think some sharpening is added during the upload. It's happened before. When it has, I have generally added a small amount of Gaussian Blur and re posted but it took me all day yesterday before TinyPic accepted the post and when I tried to replace it with a modified image (and add camera detailed which I had forgotten), it had put the shutters up again. No change this morning - Ce la vie.

Nicely done.
The composition works very well John, shame about Tinypics and the sharpening.

Thanks John, Peter and Dave. Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been trying for two days to respond with a modified image but no luck.

John, to my mind, this photo is superb. The composition is great and you appear to have captured the spirit of the place.
Composition is the first thing I noticed too, John. Excellent shot.
Thanks Bruce, thanks Izzie. I could happily live in Nova Scotia (well until it snows).
Very nice image!!!!
Thank you Nandakumar.
Very nice composition and conversion John
Thanks Izzie, thanks Binnur.
Hi John, for me, the sea at bottom and featureless sky at top contribute not a lot to the image and could be cropped away to give a more rectangular, "letterbox" format which would also act to emphasise the long finger of land leading to the lighthouse. In regard to sharpening, I post images at 1000 pixels on their longest side, (already sharpened - check on your PC after sharpening) and don't see any artefacts, just make sure your original image is made into a jpeg with high quality.
