    St Marys Church - Thirsk

Just back from a week camping with the kids in Yorkshire. Most of the shots I took were family snaps but I did make a bit of an effort from time to time to get a better quality image.

This is made from a (hand held) three shot auto bracket from the Fuji X-T1 and processed with Lightroom - Nik HDR Pro2 - Nik SEP2.

Very nice toning and tonalities. It's an interesting composition device to show so much detail, but the foreground information is too busy to my taste because it's a little distracting. Consider cropping at the bottom just barely below the Bible or perhaps it's a hymnal that is lying on the horizontal table.

Do you know the purpose of the sheets of paper hanging on the left side?

Nice quality in this Robin. Which lens were you using? The resolution is excellent. I like church interiors and I like this one.

What amazing detail. That's what sets it out from the 'shot in a church' normal sort of image. The subject is so ideal for this treatment. Beautiful.

A wonderful church and the detail is well-presented here.

    Cheers.

Thanks Mike, I'll look at other crops and framing. I think I just wanted it to be as wide as I could go with the lens I had, if I'd had a wider one you'd be seeing even more of the church which may have worked better or may have been even more cluttered.

The sheets were something the kids, from a local school I'm guessing, had done on a visit though I didn't pay them much attention.

Thanks John, this was shot with my Fuji 18-55mm which was the widest I had on me, wish I'd packed the Samyang 12mm but I was trying to travel light.

One of the things I love about the Fuji is the way the files from it are so malleable. Now it could well be that most modern sensors are the same but I only use Fuji at the moment and it just seems to suit the way I shoot and process.

    Thanks for the comment.

And they call it the Kit Lens. I've toyed with the thought of the 16-55mm f2.8 but I just can't justify it when you can get results like these.

My mum's partner has the 16-55mm and I have used it on a good few occasions though I have failed every time to see any leap in IQ from it over the 18-55mm. The extra width is useful and the stop at the long end is nice but you loose the OIS (which I needed for this shot) and its a massive thing to have hanging off the front of the small Fuji bodies.

Robin I think that I would straighten the converging verticals, and try to burn in the far window slightly, other than that a great church interior
