Really close close up of a really big Orb Weaver

All, as they say, that glitters, is not gold.

This fellow is about 8 inches leg tip to leg tip. There was a bit of a breeze and as it may be years till I'm once again this close to one of these fellows I used the flash.

Interestingly yesterday I spotted a good specimen spider in a web in the garden and then noted there were two others the same in webs really close. Another species inhabitant I posted here some months ago is still on the same web at another location.

I can't prove it but I have come to believe that the birds and beasts know when they are valued and tend to move in.
