    Video like sunset tequila movie

    Hi,

I like to take a short video clip on the beach, on sunset, just like in the sunrise tequila movie with Mel Gipson and Kurt Russel. The people should be in negative (black), and the sky and the sun, very red.

On my dslr it is easy to make the people in negative, people behind sun in front of the camera, exposure several stops darker. But what I could not do is the sky to be so red/orange/warm. I tried to increase the white balance to maximum (set it to shades), but still cannot get so warm background.

Because I like to shot video, I do not know how to do a post processing to the video, so it will be good if I do it all in camera.

Any advice how to achieve so warm sky in my video ? I use Nikon D3200. Maybe to use preset white balance ? (but how)
Or at least some post processing tips.

Screw an orange filter on your lens.

    Hello Darko

Most video editing software has some form of colour filter or colour adjustment. What software do you have ?

All feature films are shot with high end equipment, post processed using a non-linear editor and colour graded. Hoping to reproduce that in camera is bit of wishing for too much. In addition to be Robin's suggestion, you could also play around with the white balance in your camera by setting the color temperature. If you try Robin's suggestion, don't forget to disable the auto white balance m

Try increasing saturation. Then, if it's too red, reduce green a bit.

OOPS, I meant if it's too YELLOW, reduce the green a bit.

This Kindle book (Free for Kindle Prime readers - $2.99 for purchase)
    https://smile.amazon.com/PHOTOSHOP-M...hotoshop+books
MIGHT include the information that you need. It purports to include information on "color grading".

However, if you were to use a colored filter of some type, ensure that you switch off your camera's auto color balance. Otherwise, your camera will fight to make the whites white...

Thank you all for the useful additives. I will first try the color filter first with manual white balance, and maybe play around with saturation and other in camera color settings. I hope this will do the job, but if not then I will try to do some color grading

    Regards,

For images I use lightroom. But for video, I just started using openshot.
