    Blue flames heating a wok

My long deceased mother-in-law gave me this cast iron wok as a Christmas present in 1983, the first year my wife and I were married. I have never cooked a Chinese dinner when I didn't use that wok, so I think of her every time I use it.

    Setup
This photo was not made in my makeshift studio; the lower part of the scene is one of the burners on the stove top in my kitchen. The first capture was made using a background made of black foam core and a small continuous-light lamp fitted with a red gel to light the burner assembly. A second capture was made using the same lamp, though not fitted with a gel, that was pointed toward the floor. The floor reflected the bright light onto the upper area of the wok. A background made of white foam core created the rim light. The two captures were then merged.

I like the blues very much Mike. Have you considered increasing the reds of the heating metal a bit ? IMO It would make a nice color contrast

    Thank you, everyone!

Binnur: I tried various levels of intensity of the red tones both in brightness, saturation and the combination of the two. I settled on this because it looked the most realistic.
