Very well taken
Nicely done, inspires feelings of sound and motion.
I could look at that for hours, nice!
Shades of Stieglitz's "Equivalent" Donald?
But seriously the thing I really like about this is your courage to leave the foreground as it is and not "improve it" by making it horizontal.
I hadn't thought about that, but, yes, your right.
Someone said to me she gets to maim the first person who tells me to correct the horizon. No, indeed, for me the slope adds to the dynamic impact of the image for me.But seriously the thing I really like about this is your courage to leave the foreground as it is and not "improve it" by making it horizontal.
Small patch of sky towards the top left corner seems over bright compared to the rest of the sky?
Otherwise, this looks good to me.
First, what definition determines that changing the slope of the horizon is "correcting" it? Second, assuming that to correct it is to level it, doing so will also level the imaginary lines that connect the cloud formations, which will dramatically reduce the tension in the image. Reducing the tension then reduces the tortured characteristic mentioned in the thread title.
Hi Donald,
How are ye? Ah agree with ye about the sky becoming the subject - it deserves it. There's a coupla things though...aye, there always is . Did ye soften the contrast in the cloud? Ah think that the foreground and the trees are clashing textures, with the foreground being too bright (for me) and tending tae leach out some tones. Ah'd like tae see a red filter being used, this'd dramatise the cloud even more, without overpowering the photo, by a wee bit contrast adjustment. Have ye thought about a blue filter, it's very rarely used in B+W but can be very effective.
Lovely... We never get skies like that here in the San Diego area...
You did well giving the sky texture as we would perceive it viewed in person. Nicely done.
I think I must be viewing the amended version. I wouldn't change a thing. Very nice mono work and again, a subject some would pass by.
Very nice image Donald
That is a wonderful sky Donald I agree that the sky and foreground are at odds with each other. The foreground as you are aware is too bright in comparison to the sky. I notice that as well as retaining the horizon as captured you chose to retain the two birds as well. I wonder what wrath a suggestion to remove them would bring upon anyone who had the temerity to suggest it
