Finding critter specimens is becoming harder here with numbers being down drastically since the major cyclone of last year. But what is even more frustrating is that when I do find one it does not want to play.

An hour of frustration with it hiding between the leaves of a pot plant and finally doing a runner just gave me these .......................

But it gave a chance to give a new flash a good trial.

With so many eyes I would be afraid of you too.

Good image. What flash did you use and how? Looking at the shadows it's not a circular one.

could be worse. This morning I was out and spotted a jumping spider. After 3 or 4 shots he spent the next 20 minutes jumping onto me and my gear. Never did get a decent shot

Good image. What flash did you use and how? Looking at the shadows it's not a circular one.

I used an on camera speedlite in manual with a Stofen diffuser George. Some will be directional light and some coming through the leaves.

I have had ones previously Brian that spend most of their time jumping onto the camera or flash, frustrating but hilarious

Thanks for commenting. I tried No 3 flipped (cheating) but he looked weird with the catch-lights showing in the lower area of the eye.

Scary? he was only about 12mm long Dan

The pot plant as I call it was a small Sansevieria and seems about the only species the other half has any success with and if they do die, she just takes another from the garden
