    Staithes is one of those places that they invented the word 'picturesque' for. I like #1, the best of a fine set.

    One thing that you did not mention about Staithes is that it is hard to sleep at night because the gulls seem to be calling all night as well as all day!

    My first school holiday was a Staithes in 1947 in some old ex army huts on the right hand side at the top of the hill
    about thirty of us and a couple of teachers. I was up there two years back and it's not changed much

    Roy I remember those huts from my holidays in Staithes. I used to stay with a friends family in their cottage, great times. I believe the huts may still be there but I don't know if they are still used for school trips.
