These fellows were on our glass wall. The bg is unpainted plywood. The mosquito was a surprise.

... and yet somehow you managed to get them both in the plane of focus.

    Sometimes you just get lucky!

    Good shot btw

Any idea what the trail of fuzzy stuff is behind the Mosquito? (spider web silk perhaps)

Neat shot - the moth looks like a king in his robe to me.

they are aren't they It seems counter intuitive to me but there are times when backing off a bit gets me more detail. I imagine it is the overall sharpness gets improved by moving back a bit.

This is a classic one Brian. It's hard enough to get a mosquito, but a mosquito and a moth, well done

By moving back a bit you are going to increase the DoF, a balance with cropping but can be to your advantage.

as stated above, I didn't know what I had captured till I put it on the big screen. Once again I smudge the line between science and art.

Other people have said it is a fantastic image, but let me add to that.

Good luck put them there together, but you don't get an image like that unless your prepared for it and know how to get it. Wonderful.

I did adjust for bg and straight on DoF. One of the things that helped with the shot was that I had one of the tripods legs hard up against the house. That allowed me to get a good focus and enough shots to stack. The other thing that really helped was my basic put it off till it feels right character flaw. After 3 years I still haven't gotten around to painting the plywood in the kitchen. I have a very understanding wife.
