I like this Tim - detail in shadows to highlights all preserved
I was at a local fair today. They were raising money for the local volunteer fire brigade. There were bands, stalls, food and a patting zoo for the kids. I also came across the local toy train society. I have always thought it would be good to spend time photograghing this type of thing. Their full display is only open to members and membership is $30 a year. For that price I will probably join.
It is said that if you can see the flagpole on East Portlemouth Church Tower (across the estuary) it is going to rain . . .
. . . and if you can't see the flagpole - it is raining!
A quick handheld shot with a Sigma 150-500 lens. Late afternoon sun which made the light a bit difficult. Tried the (Serif Photo Plus) auto HDR merge, which only works with Jpeg so I'm not sure about the quality. I may have another play around with the Raw shot image.
Not raining this morning but very grey and rain is promised. Sometimes heavy overcasts allow decent shots of colorfull trees and bushes.
This is the Service Berry bush at the front of our house. Shot with Oly E-620, Zuiko 11-22mm at 21mm and f/7.1, 1/40sec
Close-up of the leaves. E-620, 21mm @ f/7.1 and 1/30sec
I hope you all like the colors.

I knew this was the one as soon as I saw it.
My PAD album for October 2010
Impressive up close!
All the more so when you consider these were taken about a second apart and the 2 frames between these two confirm this was one wing 'cycle'.

Cheers,
Lovely Katy - I often think of words to songs and wonder how to do a photograph to accurately reflect them....
In your first shot you have done it here with "Summer's lease hath all too short.....(okay it was a sonnet b4 a song, but who's worried about details )
so a theme I would like to try too
Is anyone else having problems viewing Kay's shot in post #1. On my screen with IE8 I have a small scrollbar on the right, but it does not move and the picture is not there. I tried Ctr F5 and it's still not there. I'd love to see it.

Hello everyone: I've been busy moving the last while, but yesterday I hurt my back so today is a day of rest and I have some extra time to post.
Just wanted to let you all know, that I've really enjoyed following along on these threads. The shots are great and seem to be getting better all the time. You guys are tireless.
Thanks everyone, and keep up the good work. The finish line is near.

That's better Kay. Nice lighting and background. The frame really sets it off too. I'll take your husband's word for it. Doesn't really matter what they are they sure are cute. Birds of a feather
