    Old adjustable crescent wrench

I had so much fun making the image of the old drill bit that I made the photo shown below of this old wrench.

    Setup
The tabletop and background are a single sheet of dark brown presentation paper. A small continuous-light lamp behind the subject on the right side lights the top of the wrench on that side. It is fitted with a flag made of black matte aluminum foil to prevent light from falling anywhere on the tabletop and background other than a small amount near the bottom of the subject. A white reflector in the left front area below the subject at a 45-degree angle horizontally and vertically to it lights that area of the wrench. A flashlight (torch) on the right front side lights that area of the wrench. Another one in the left rear area creates the direct reflection on the top tip of the wrench's mouth and lights the inside surfaces of the mouth. A third, very small flashlight brightens the background behind the mouth and the adjusting knob.

It's nice to see you wrenching yourself away from wine bottles Mike.

Nice and sharp Mike. Perhaps a little bright on the RHS...? Not sure.

Is that really a Crescent brand adjustable wrench?

    Thank you, everyone!

No, it's a Temco brand. My understanding is that the Crescent brand became so well recognized that any adjustable wrench made in the same style is commonly called a crescent wrench. That's just as the Kleenex brand became so well recognized that people commonly ask for a tissue by asking for a Kleenex without caring whether the tissue is a Kleenex brand of the product.

I resided in Texas for a few years where I learned that the only true and proper name is thumb wrench. And obviously if a texan says it's so then so it is.

I didn't think it was. You can tell by the way the jaws are made. That one has seen some very hard use from the looks of it.
I treasure my dad's old Crescent wrenches. You can't buy any that are made as well as the old ones.
When I worked as a machinist they used to call them a (_____) micrometer. In political correctness I won't fill in the blank there.
