Old pipe wrench

Setup
The background is red presentation board. A small continuous-light lamp behind the wrench lights the top of it and creates the direct reflection on the top left area. A white reflector redirects light from the lamp onto the wrench. The lamp is also fitted with matte black aluminum foil to limit the light falling on the background, which produces dark tones. A small flashlight (torch) brightens the background behind the jaws. A flashlight behind the subject creates the direct reflection on the bottom left curve and lights the right hand jaw. Another flashlight brightens the adjusting knob and the surrounding area. A polarizer eliminates glare on the highest, narrow strip of red paint. The image was captured in a vertical orientation purely for the ease of constructing the setup and was rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Nicely captured, so did you use multiple flashlights or did you sort of do some light painting?

I used three flashlights and none of them were handheld. Two of them are the same model that have an adjustable output, a pivoting head and a built-in adjustable stand. They are so convenient that I've just about decided that it would be really great to have at least one more. EDIT: I bought one more.

I added a monochrome version to the first post in the thread.

Though I envisioned the photo from the outset in color to emphasize the red tones, it's very rare these days that I make a monochrome when I first envision a color version, and vice versa. The change happened this time because, having made three monochromes of details of the pipe wrench, I explored the possibility of converting the only color photo to monochrome. If that would be successful, I would have a set of images all made in monochrome. The monochrome version works for me so much that I like it even more than the color version (though I admit to being prone to monochromes).

Beautifully lit and presented.
Of the two variations, I prefer the colour version.
Just wondering if you took any close-ups?
I think a tighter shot of the central area with it's different textures and lines would be extremely interesting.
