Big White Birds, Brilliant Light

A few shots from last winter that I never got around to. These were shot on the same crisp morning in warm, early light.

1) Best first. This guy flew out of the shade into the sunlight. Exposing for the white bird resulted in the BG almost completely disappearing in shadow.



2) This one was chasing another bird.



3) A nice view of breeding plumage.

I like all of them, but #2 is special -- the little ripple in the reflection and the slight dragging of the wings in the water.
