    Eclipse August 21, 2017

These were taken from our backyard. It was muggy that day about 92°F. We had drinks, the couple next door to us and our three doggies playing together. We had fun waiting for the actual eclipse and when it came, it was very quick. This is my first eclipse shots so forgive me if I do not have the ones that are perfect.

I hope you enjoy this show as much I did. Towards the end, I just put my camera down and enjoyed the rest of the eclipse. I heard of friends who did the same. When you are looking at good thing, who cares about being perfect...and according to a friend there are only 9 Umbraphiles. I am not one of them.

It was hard for me to concentrate - so much happening. Your last shot Izzie was my favorite part. Seeing that "Wedding Band" was a real pow at the end! Nice job capturing it :-)

Great captures Izzie... It was certainly a lot more dramatic than what we had in SOCAL

Well done, Izzie. The last one is cool with the star effect. I agree sometimes we just need to put the camera down and enjoy the view.

It gave my coworkers a chance to bond a bit as we all shared the same glasses. Nice shots.

Izzie, very nice. I was insde with an anesthetized patient so I could not step out to see it. My daughter and her husband were in Wyoming at our house and saw it.

Good captures and good memories. We had about 88% coverage and mostly cloudy skies. We got an occasional peak (with the glasses) through the cirrus overcast.

Thank you...I have quite a lot of the first shots too with the prominences (purple gasses) and also the diamond ring effect, Third one is the start of the diamond ring white it was still a bead, hence it is called a diamond bead. When it started to happen, it happened so quite. Not so much window to play with so I decided to just enjoy the show instead,

Thank you for commenting. I do appreciate it very much.

You are too far away, Richard but you did a good job of capturing the moment of set up of your neighbours. One of the tips I had read before the event happened was that, in any event, people will be busy capturing the event itself, why not take pictures of faces of the attendees instead and have fun at the same time...so I think you did the right thing there.

Thank you for commenting. Makes me smile now that I remember to forget to catch the faces of Bill and the dogs and my neighbours. It was a fun event.

Yes, sometimes we forget ourselves...I am glad you like that last one. I must have at least a dozen of each sequence because I was eager to capture them with my remote thinking that I read the last time there was a solar eclipse here in Missouri was 149 years ago. I will not see another one here so I might as well enjoy the view up there. It was a wow moment for all of us who shared this scene right in our backyard.

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

I ended up giving mine to Bill because the handle got wet from between my ears. My neighbours shared the other one between them. I did not bothered because Bill made me a contraption out of the $22 7 or 8 square paper I bought at a telescope website. I was an enjoyable moment...

    Thank you for your comments.

Thank you...there are more eclipses if you are willing to follow them...My stepson missed it too because he has to go to work. He is a pilot. He arrived shortly after the eclipse. Our neighbour said to observe the animals, they will just fall down asleep because it became dark. We just laughed at that. The totality was only about 1 minute 37, not enough time for the dogs to just fall off to sleep. If anything, they were eager to play outside despite the heat.

Thank you for commenting. I truly appreciate it very much.

We were expecting thunderstorms as forecast but the gods were very accommodating to us, thank you. We were watching the clouds over at the SW but it was too high up to matter so we can't get a good sharp one where we were. And the shadow wasn't really that round either. I think the ones in the papers were manipulated to look round.

Hope you got a good shot...I would have been very disappointed if we had that predicted thunderstorms. In any case, thank you for passing by and giving me a nice comment...I appreciate it very much.

It was a very enjoyable and beautiful moment seeing and being part of that event, Grahame. The haze was unavoidable where we were but the sight was a real 'wow!' moment. It was so quick. I am very thankful for my remote...

Thank you for passing by and commenting. It was truly an appreciative moment. There will be other eclipses, but this one was really different. I wish you were with us too. The most beautiful thing ever to happen in my lifetime.
