#1 is cutie...
#2 looks lonely, what an expression! I didn't know birds can look lonely...
#3 I think we have this one in our backyard too
# 4 Yeahh...pull the other leg...
#5 MY FAVOURITE: Grace! Look at that face! I am sure she is glad you are staying home. I am such a sucker for large cute dogs...
All the above are good clean shots, nice series, Dan...and thanks for the morning laugh...
We have a few odd birds around here but I try to avoid them.
Lovely set of images. No. 4 must be one in a thousand. Well caught.
P.S. the expression on your hound's face has a touch of " Oh not again" about it.
Superb images as usual... difficult to choose one
The two headed crane is common where I live.
A great set.
European Cranes are making a comeback in the UK, but so far no reports of two-headed ones.

Thanks for commenting, guys. For anyone who is interested in identifying birds I highly recommend a mobile app called "Merlin" that is published by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. You can select database downloads that are relevant to your part of the world. There is a very quick ID feature or you can just browse the database also.
I was trying to get the exact opposite shot of the cranes. Kept waiting for them to step clear of one another and face the same direction. Of course they walked off in different directions instead.
Grace was rather perturbed with me for watching the birds rather than playing ball with her. She's a very selective bird dog. Shows no interest in the little birdies but will immediately lock on to sight or smell of grouse, ptarmigan, etc. But squirrels are her real nemesis.
Perfect exposure and plenty of fine feather detail.
All great photos, Dan. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be #5 of your dog.
Thanks for the comments, folks. John, glad you like the app. It's the most useful bird reference that I've found. I'm not a birder by any stretch of the imagination but I do like to know what I'm shooting. Or more to the point what I've shot
Lovely set Dan
