    Abstract pattern close up

The subject is a sanding sponge. The magnification ratio is about 1:1.2, which means the physical scene is only about 20% larger than the size of the image being projected onto the sensor.

    Setup
A small continuous-light lamp on the left side is fitted with a diffusion sock. A white reflector on the right side lifts the shadows.

At that magnification it does become abstract. I'd never have guessed what it was. Looks like some sort of sand art or something painted with texture added to the paint.

Good imagination and eye to visualize this. And, a good technique to carry it out.
