John, I was tempted to get a telescope last solar eclipse because of our bank's rewards point and I told my husband that no matter how much and how hard I stomp my feet, not to get me one. Having a telescope will be another learning curve and more accessories. I just want to live for now...and enjoy it. Maybe I should just take up learning how to drink wine. I read the other day that people who drinks lives longer and healthier than those who doesn't. What a lot of crap! But then, no one can say I only eat breakfast..., ya know...a meal without wine is 'breakfast'.

Using an ordinary telescope on the sun is a good way of going blind very quickly. Probably set fire to a sensor in a camera too. They can be used to project an image onto a sheet of paper etc but if that's not forming a decent sized image it may burn a hole in the paper.

If people want to look it needs something like these - no use for anything else as far as I'm aware.
