The buzz of exhibiting your prints

Just finished exhibiting at the opening exhibition of a new gallery near to my home, along with another CiC member (Sharon Reid - aka Daisy Mae) and 5 other artists working in other mediums.

If you've never done it your should think about it. There's nothing gives you that buzz quite like seeing your work up in a gallery and other people viewing it ..... and buying it.

This photo was taken by the lady who bought my 'Reflection on Ice'.

And this is one I took of Sharon's display, and Sharon (at the right hand side) explaining something to a potential client.

I'm the wee blonde one that he's cut in half!

Seriously, we had a marvellous time and to everyone who has said.....'Why don't you exhibit? Thank you.'

You finally got through to me...and the experience, the interest ...and yes..the 'sales' suggest you may have been right coaxing this shy girl out of the corner.

As you can see in the pic above ( even though I am 'halved' )..am using an arm crutch until my surgery in the next few weeks.

I could not have installed my photos without Donald's help ...and i could not have got through the long hours of standing and talking to prospective clients without him keeping an eye on me...and making me take rests.

Most importantly...I wouldn't have been there at all without his belief in me ...and my work.

So..I am most indebted to you guys and to him for so much in this venture.

Mind ye...he didnae buy ma pictures ...but then they are his for the asking.

    Thank you Donald. xxxxx

Thank you. But it wasn't my skill that produced the images that sold ... in huge quantities! She sold more than any of us.

Most excellent, well done both of you. You both produce high quality work as all here can attest so a Exibition is a great thing for you both to do. Nice that the General Public also recognise skill and talent when they see it

After the hell of a year you have had, its good to see you back in the public eye, doing the things you enjoy.

You should distribute a catalogue of prints to CIC members, you never know, one or two might 'bite',

I did a few years ago and its still here! It needs a pairing or two, there is room on the wall….just.

A modern photographic reincarnation of the 'Glasgow Boys' perchance?

Seriously though, congratulations to you both... it takes both talent and the courage to risk rejection and exhibit.

NiceX3: story, seeing you looking so fit and well Donald, and a wee bit of icing on the cake with the sliver of Sharon.

Donald - it's gratifying to see you getting out and about. Your recovery seems to be moving along quite nicely.

Sharon - It looks like you are getting around in spite of your mobility issues. I assume that the plan is to get rid of the crutch at some point after your surgery. Good luck and good riddance to it. I was able to get rid of my cane some months after my surgery (5 years ago tomorrow); I don't miss it at all. It's far easier to handle a camera when one can use both hands...

Here's a few pics from behind the scenes at what was the most wonderful experience..

    Everyone....if you get the chance....EXHIBIT.

Congratulations to you both from me too,

Now all you have to do is book for next year (I assume it is annual), or next time - and shoot some new art
