Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Really nice images, Rita! The first two are very nice but the last one is special for me because its composition captivates everything about rugged, sheer mountains. Consider cropping that one to eliminate most of the rock formations in the bottom right corner that are out of focus.

All nicely composed and well executed shots. The last one is really outstanding. It really captures the feel of being in high mountains. Really well done.

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Thanks so much Mike, John, Dan, and Richard. I must admit that the last image was my favourite of the day too.
Mike, I see what you mean by removing the out of focus bit at the bottom right. Here is my cropped version:

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
You need to crop quite a bit closer to lose all of the out of focus area.
I would have a go at returning to the original and crop out all of the out of focus area so as to end up with a totally different image size. Maybe 4 x 5 ratio so you still retain the full height?
Alternatively, I did consider a bit of careful selecting and pasting in of rock from a nearby area, but I tend to doubt if that would look natural.

Very nice set of images that capture the feel of the place. Prefer the cropped version of the last one. Apart from removing the distraction of the blur, going in closer has given more immediacy to the mid ground.

Very nice. Artists Point is one of my favorite places, although all over up there is fantastic. Happy you made it over to our side of the border
Table Mountain is a wonderful hike (done from Bagley Lakes). #3 is my fav.

Hi Geoff, I did try to add some other rocks to the bottom corner but as you say it didn't look right. Here is a 4x5 crop.

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Thank you John. It is surprising how challenging it was to capture the essence of this location. Everything was so vast and so majestic that images really don't do justice compared with being there in person.

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Hi Sharon, yes I finally made it there. It was totally marvellous and I will be going back again. Table Mountain is on the list for next time I go. Sadly, due to my schedule right now, I think that will be happening next year. It's too bad that the road is only open for about 3 months. We were talking with on of the forest rangers and he was telling us that last year there was 45 feet of snow up there

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Rita, I enjoyed all these photos. They brought back memories of a trip a good while ago driving down from Vancouver via Abbotsford to the border crossing, then on to Mt Baker.
Of the crops, my preference is the one in post #11. The crop in #6 did not work for me; the loss of the sliver of sky above the mountain peak caused the photo to lose a lot of its impact.
I'm probably not as concerned as others about the out of focus rocks in the immediate foreground. You managed to capture the grandeur of the scene.

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Beautiful locations. Number three with the 4x5 crop has the strongest composition for me. I think it really shows the ruggedness and scale of the mountains. The clouds, snow and gray rocks contrast beautifully with the darker tones of the foreground and is very attractive. Excellent.

Thanks Bruce. Good memory to have, it is a beautiful drive and destination. Being only 5 minutes from the border our drive was much shorter than yours

Re: Near Mt Baker in Washington
Rita, I saw this last night but I was too lazy to come in. These are all beautiful compositions but the last edit from John's suggestion and your correction is the best. I can feel the grandeur of the location and I felt the cold.
