    Clouds Building Over Pen-y-Ghent

The trouble with photographing steam trains is that there is a lot of waiting around for about 10second of action. So you have to fill the time. This was taken from the station platform at a small hamlet called Horton in Ribblesdale. Pen-Y-Ghent is the hill in the BG and is one of the more well known landmarks in the Western Dales. Mono because although I quite liked the colour version, I can never quite achieve the luminosity in the clouds that mono seems to provide.

    Fuji X-T2 plus 55-200mm lens.

The B/W is nicely handles but what I really like here is the composition. Not one that would ever occur to me Quite effective. Well done.

What an interesting and beautiful image John. I agree with Dan the composition is fabulous. It's splendidly complex and simple at the same time.

Geat composition. I is as I tend to remember Pen-y-Ghent - in the monochrome of my youth!

Looks good to me; the whites are white while the blacks are black and plenty of tones in between

    Thanks all for the comments.

John, I only discovered the joys of the Dales after I retired. All that time wasted.

Very, very nice, John...I thought the cloud at the left side is a splash from an ocean...Love the composition too.

    Nice shot John,

Almost timeless - apart from the smudged contrail - which sadly attracts my attention, had you considered its removal?

    Just a thought,
    Dave

Thanks Mike, thanks Sharon, thanks Dave.

To be honest Dave, I hadn't noticed it until you pointed it out. Just shows you what a fresh pair of eyes will see. But what's there is there and I think I probably would have left it as is.

Love it, John. I personally have nothing against the contrail.
