Ucross, Wyoming
I wanted to go into the Bighorn Mountains to do some fly fishing but with the fires there were a lot of road closures and I didn't want to chance getting there and coming home via an alternate route at night. So we took an afternoon cruise to the Ucross Foundation Gallery, 40 miles from our house in Wyoming. The chapel in the Ucross park is interesting. I took a few shots, one in black & white and one in color. Both were taken with a Fujifilm XT-1 with a Zeiss touit 32mm f/1.8 lens.

Here is a link to the history of the chapel.

It doesn't look like 2011-ist. Without the history link I would have thought this will be more older than that except that the tiling of the roof will belie that thought. I prefer the coloured version. Neat.

Re: Ucross, Wyoming
Nice, I like the color version as it makes the structure look more vibrant.

What a beautiful structure. It will be standing for a long while no doubt. I think the color version tells a better story of the stone and architecture.

I prefer the color version too for the reasons already mentioned above

Re: Ucross, Wyoming
The colour version has some nice subtle tints in the stonework but a rather bland grey sky, which is where the B&W has an advantage.
Different looking scenes but I can't really decide which is the best.

Re: Ucross, Wyoming
The sky is gray because of the smoke from the fires in Montana and Wyoming.

Here's another shot I took from Ranchester, Wyoming at sunset.

Nice lines and composition on the rail shot, the door looks interesting as well; although the reflected trees look a bit too hazy.

Re: Ucross, Wyoming
I sort of like the scene despite the haze and would prefer the crop to be without the structure at the back. Just a thought...

Re: Ucross, Wyoming
I quite like the grain elevator at sunset. Would be happy to have shot this. The subtle colours, especially in the sky are captured beautifully. Love the leading lines,
I wonder why you did not include the remainder of the building, to the left? Seems a bit of an abrupt cut off given you are showing the building in it's environment.

Nice set of images here. The B/W version of the church reveals the textures of the stone. The front door detail is really nice. And the grain elevator is really nice both for composition and color. Well done.
