Nearly As Big As My Thumb

This is the biggest grasshopper I've ever seen and since he was obliging I grabbed some shots. ;-)

Very nice captures, Susan. Your "subject" is a katydid. I think it's a Forked-Tail Bush Katydid.

Thanks for your comments and clues as to what insect this is ;-)! Midmorning forest fire 'sunshine' certainly helped here.

Great detais in #1 Susan. Although the composition is a bit crowded in #2 it is a nice scene and I like the light

I like the details in both, Susan. Just as a curiousity, do you always have your camera with you or did you actually purposely go out to chase grasshoppers?

Two very nice images. No.2 for me. Alternatively, my instinct would be to crop no.2 but only to loose the purple bottom left.

Izzie like you I like to spend time in my garden. Clippers in one hand and the camera in the other ;-) - just kidding. I do always have it by the door and sometimes I just leave the tripod out on the back porch ready to roll. We have moved to a new area and I have a different garden to look after now and so much is new...different creatures and plants. Don't you garden with your camera ;-)?

No I don't...but I have clippers when I take my doggie out for a walk...
