This is an older image. As I become more proficient in LR I am having a lot of fun revisiting these. The blossom is St. John's Wort.

I find bees are always tricky, so well done to get such fine detail.

They are. Thanks Geoff. I don't think I've ever gotten a good one with my tripod - but I am not 'at one' with my tripod just yet.
P.S. I shot a gigantic bee earlier today, (gnarly thing!) - perhaps you can help with an ID when I post it.? I've never seen such a thing before.

Very nice bee shot Susan. Although the composition has nice elements, IMO it is too crowded . So, I would crop the image from the bottom and go for a square frame to put the emphasis more on the bee

I could see that working. The blobs of color and shadow seem well balanced to me in the bigger crop but it is kind of sliced in the middle. As I remember shooting it the shadow is what drew my eye - the bee was a happy accident which is not too surprising as the bees love the stuff when in bloom. Thanks much for the feedback Binnur.

I see what you mean Susan. If you crop the bee, then there is actually another beautiful image there. I would certainly make two photos from the image above by cropping it differently. If you crop the bee, leave the whole core of the flower in the frame and clone the cropped leg of the bee which shows in the frame

I do have other images with no bee - so I will give that suggestion a go :-). I looked at cropping it and came up with a simple flip. What do yu think? The bee is more the focus in this orientation to me.

You know what made this image for me? -- the drop of water on the leaf actually balances this shot. I love it.

Thanks a bunch Izzie. I like it too - it's a bit more complex than a basic bee shot which I enjoy.
