Blue Man at a Blue House

This residence on the main street in Schellsburg, a small town in Pennsylvania, is the home of its long-time mayor. When I was photographing the house, a neighbor living across the street explained that the mayor decorates the man according to the season. This was Labor Day weekend, a patriotic holiday weekend in America, so the man is decorated in a patriotic theme. Someone stole the man at night a few years ago and returned it apparently unharmed a few days later.

Beautiful home, fun images, nice story. Just not so sure about the blue man. A little creepy. LOL. Wonder what they do for Halloween?
And now it's my turn.... the home looks tilted. Given it's an old home, maybe it does lean right?

    Thanks, Sharon!

One of your comments makes me wonder if you're familiar with the Blue Man Group.

As for the apparent tilt in the home, I had the choice of lining the image up on the vertical lines or the horizontal lines, as they don't meet at perfect right angles. I chose a vertical line in each image that seemed most important, as that seemed to produce the most natural overall result. Notice the sign indicating that the building was constructed about 1815, so the misalignment is to be expected.

Mike, beautifully done. The man looks angry to me. Nah! stoic.
    Cheers Ole

Nice images Mike and interesting. I love tradition, particularly when it's a bit whimsical.
