The same tree, another hour in time

It was perfect timing early this morning for shooting that washed up tree again, the weather, moon and tide were on my side.

These were all shot using moonlight only. The moon was just about directly behind me for the duration at 95% brightness and at 58deg. My session was finished well before Astro Start which meant exposures remained constant throughout the time allowing very easy batch processing of all the pics.

No 1 was with the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and the others with the Nikon 16-35 f/4.

Unusual for me is that I did not crop these to 16:9 ratio as I did not want to lose any sky.

#3 and especially #4 is a very WoW! shot, Grahame. Everything is really perfect in #4...including the position of the clouds and of course the composition is award winning. Lately I have been having this habit of loading my shot in my iPad just to look at how it will look when it is framed. The last one reminds me of looking at an image with my ipad. LOL

I'm preferring the first and fourth Grahame,

For me; the clouds in #2 and #3 overpower the rest of the scene.

On balance, between #1 and #4, I have to agree with Izzie and pick #4.

On dark images, I'm not a fan of bright wide borders, but again that's just my personal preference, pay me no heed.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Thanks Izzie. No 4's my favourite of the batch as well and I was pleased that it captured the incoming tide ripples with the long exposure.

    Thank you Dave.

With respect to the white borders I find it helps brighten dark images up a bit but that's just my weird taste. But with all these pics they can be any colour you want, with or without borders

    Thank you Binnur.

I had been hoping for no cloud but they do give a bit of added interest in the sky and reflections in the water.

These are superb, Grahame. I prefer the 1st and 4th also. I feel the movement in the clouds in the 2nd and 3rd is at odds with the stillness of the rest of the scene.

have you ever seen the 1940 version of Rebeca. The heroins father was a painter who only painted one tree 'because once you have found perfection why bother with anything less.'

Yowsers! There is a simplicity to these that is calming and it takes you right in. I'm on that beach. That is impressive with just the moonlight. You timed it perfectly.

Not sure I have seen that film Brian.

I still have a few more ideas for this tree; sunset, long exposure with the water around it on one of those days with perfect blue sky and star trails

Yes it's impressive what you can achieve with just the moonlight, but a pity you are limited by controlling for movement.

I may be wrong but my feeling is that till time, tide or chain saw removes this tree we will be blessed with it's beauty
