    Feral

A photograph of a feral cat that would visit our back yard. Taken a few years ago and recently converted to black and white. She hasn't been around in a while. I think she got fed up with being my model.

Jean, what do you find strange? She had very bright yellow eyes. I did enhance them a little (contrast curve). It was a visual design choice as I felt they made a good contrast between her coat and the background, and also emphasized her wild nature. We would put food out for her but she would not touch it until we were inside. Afterwards I would follow her around the yard trying to get a photo before she bolted over the fence. I could not get closer than ten to fifteen feet. This was taken after she had been coming around for a few months and I was able to get a decent shot.

    Thank you for commenting.

I think its eyes were too much corrected, they seem grainy, it's just my opinion.

Jean, in the original shot the eyes have spots and striations of pigmentation and also veins which are enhanced by the curve and sharpening. When you say grainy, I think of noise or film grain. That I do not see, but then my eyes are not what they used to be , so I accept that you may be seeing something I do not.

Thank you for the specific reply.

    Thank you, Raymond.

I wish I could say I planned it this way. She was very skittish and I had to make a wide arc around her to get this particular shot. Her position and lighting happened to be complimentary.

Lovely image Sergio. The eyes don't look grainy but they look oversharpened a bit

Thank you, Binnur. I will revisit the sharpening on the eyes.

    Thank you, Izzie.

I know what you mean about the eyes. Hers were wild looking, and she did cross my path several times.
Darn! No wonder I'm having so much bad luck.

Many said, only on Friday the 13th, so don't blame your circumstances on the cat. Excuses are a nice cop out but it doesn't work that way. Mind October 13 next month.

Sergio, the work you've done on the cat's eyes make this picture a good one.

Thank you, Ole. She was the most beautiful yet fearful and fierce cats we've had come around.
