Art Nouveau was an architectural and decorative art style that was popular from around 1890 to about 1910. In the USA it was often called "Tiffany style".

One of the best places in the world to see examples of this style is in Riga, Latvia. The building where the Art Nouveau Museum is located has a magnificent spiral staircase in this style.

Absolutely marvelous (seems my word of the day?), however even a superlative would not be out of place here, Manfred! At my advanced age I have decided not to travel as far as Europe (from New Zealand) in these planes, with their ever-decreasing leg room. However, you do test my resolve when I see this. My wife and I love Art Deco and Art Nouveau, and this is such a terrific example. Love it!!

Thanks - this year I should be home for at almost 8 months. I know a number of people that are home for less than 6 months per year. This is actually fairly common for retired Canadians who often head to warmer parts of the world starting in the fall and returning in the spring. We refer to them as "Snow Birds".

Not that many tend to go where we do...
