It's a shame your trip to Iceland fell through... we've just finished booking a trip there in late July/early August this year... I've been there many times (way back in the late 1980's/early 1990's when the US maintained a naval air station at Keflavik) but saw very little of the country (I sat in a dark windowless tube for most of the time).

I'm hoping to see more of the country this time!

Martin and Richard, thanks for the kind comments. It is not the end of the world. I certainly won't turn down a trip to the Tetons. And it is closer, too. I'm really looking forward to the bamboo rod. I met the maker a while back while fishing in Idaho, put my name on his list and waited. These guys work at their own pace. I heard he was under the weather so I figured I may not get the rod. Then he messaged me and said I would have it by summer.

I haven't fished that area in a long time so it will be fun. Richard, you are right about catching fish being the bonus. I've not been to that area with a nice camera so that will be interesting.

Yes, it's a shame that you're not going to Iceland; but the Tetons are certainly a great trip.

PS - Just to satisfy your urges for Icelandic images, I suggest that you watch the first few minutes of "Prometheus"; a great travelogue spoiled by a crappy sci-fi flick.

I will have just as much fun there and get to do some fly fishing. It is a 7 hour drive for me and it is not a direct shot. That will give me a chance to try out the new fly rod on some beautiful rivers. I'd like to spend a day on Mormon Row. A lot of photos of the Tetons have been taken from there.
