I have been around dogs for a long while and can identify most breeds, especially with purebred dogs (mixed breed dogs are sometimes a lot more difficult to I.D.). However, I missed it with little Prince. I have never seen a Parti Yorkie, although they have been among the American Kennel Club (AKC) breeds since 2000.
This is the entry picture of Prince to serve as a baseline image. I always shoot an entry photo of the dogs when they arrive. Prince was left at our vet due to a broken leg and the owner's not desiring to spend the money to repair the leg.
A Parti Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) can have white, black, tan and gray coloring. I though that Prince was a Yorkie-Shih Tsu mix and was surprised then our vet told me he was a purebred Parti Yorkie.
He is doing very well and is eating just fine. Although we have him on pain control medications, he doesn't seem to be in any distress.
We will adopt him out to a home in which there is enough money to give him vet care if he ever needs it again.
