    Jilted Spider but successful hoverflies

This Metellina segmenta male approached a female when she was feeding, which is normal practice with this species, but she wasn't interested and eventually scampered off to hide under a nearby leaf.

Some hoverflies, however, were more successful. Eristalis nemorum.

The male kept placing his front 'foot' on her eye so she used her leg to move his foot back a bit, as is happening with this scene.
