M'ady needed some practice: Me before my breakfast pot of coffee
M'Lady is not camera savvy. I set the Sony to Gold Auto showed her how to frame with the 18/55mm zoom and do the infamous half click for focus.
The camera adjusted to these settings;
ISO 800 ~ Shutter Speed 1/60s ~ F/5 ~ Auto Flash ~ Program AE ~ FL 40mm

the camera has about a dozen scene setting options which you can choose.. Macro, sports, night, indoor etc. etc. In what is called 'Superior Auto' (the gold colored camera on the dial) the camera chooses the scene and every other setting except focus.

either works for me. I've always gravitated away from the madding crowd. Lighthouse keeper, deck hand on the last United Church mission boat, pastor in a small Indian village.

When I opened this thread and spotted the excellent work that your wife did in capturing your early morning mood, I laughed! Yep! You definitely look like you needed more coffee!
