I can see a bunch of mistakes in it - I just lose my head when I'm using my camera around other people. However, I love this photo!!! Is it just toooo weird, though, without the horses full face in the frame? It completely changes the story if I keep it in.
I think it works fine like this - we see some of both their faces & the wee girl's love for her pony shines through

Thanks, but I just shot it. The art is in growing it, and I tend to chop everything with the lawnmower (AKA, Tha Agent of Death)

We went Segwaying around Leeds Castle this afternoon - great fun and just a pity the light was a bit dull.
Yes they are good fun I'll never forget that experience - I live a mundane life (by choice) and that's as exciting as it gets

    Lush pony. I want!
I got a picture with the white pony and the two sisters and it was really funny to see the three blondes with their long hair waving in the wind.

A third of an acre. No frost yet, but soon. Chopping boards and striplights are greatly under-rated (don't listen to Colin, he has shares in Elinchrom)

Thanks, Kay, for both the encouragement and the feedback. Once again, I have the focus (or main character in the photo) in shadow (grrrrrrr)! I wonder if that is fixable in photo shop - I know that I've seen a tutorial on adding catch lights, somewhere. (I'm leaning towards photo shop because of all of the info that I've seen on ways to use it but, yesterday, someone also recommended lightroom.) Anyway, is it worth fixing this photo since her face is a bit blurry! Input, anyone??? She's a bit shy and hard to take a photo of but she's gorgeous. Ironically, her t-shirt says, "if you think that I'm shy, well, I'm not! It's just that you never talk about horses and everything else is boring!" It was adorable!

    Not weird at all Katy,

I also like the shot, one of the few where you can get away with almost having two subjects - although I agree you wouldn't want more horse in, so I guess it is primarily a portrait of the young lady.

The thing I find a bit of a distraction, given the almost high key nature of the shot, is the head collar being a little too dark in tone, but that's fairly minor criticism.

    Cheers,

Finally, no rain and heavy clouds - just winds I am late posting today because I had to wait until dark (about 1900) to take a picture of one of the Halloween decorations. There are lots of very meagre ones but this is one of the bigger decorations.

    Day 28: October 2010 PAD

I hope to get a couple more of these sorts of things in the next two days.

    Autumn Outside Work

    Day 28: October 2010 PAD

    Canon SD900, f/8, 1/250s, focal len 7.7mm (35mm equiv 37mm). Full EXIF, PAD slideshow.

The trees and sky outside the window looked so nice that I stepped out at lunchtime and took a couple of shots with my hand-me-down SD900. As I said before, a very nice camera: any shortcomings are due to the photographer.

The lawn in the foreground is pretty ratty, which limited the composition a bit unless I wanted to do massive retouching.

    C&C are always welcome.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Thanks, Dave for the input! What do you mean by "high key" - I mean, I just don't know what that means.

    Hi Katy,

There's a bit on that in the tutorial here at CiC, see the dalmation picture.

There was a thread discussing it recently too, but do you think I can find it?

Oh, yeah........that's what I was working on just last week.

Oh, if you can find that other thread - that would be great. I still need to get to the "did you say expose to the right?" thread.
