    Black & Yellow - a few photos

Labradors. Littermates, best of buds. Hiking & swimming partners. The most amazing and wonderful dogs that we have been so lucky to have.

Most of these are not great technically (soft focus, noise, lighting, etc.), but they are great pups . Not really pet portraits in the true sense of the word. Just mostly snaps and unprocessed "junk".

#1 Our Yellow Lab on top of Mailbox Peak (read up on the hike, he's got muscles for a reason )

#2 Not great. Her ears are back, Sun is to intense and creates highlights and overexposure. I'm still even trying to figure out how to expose him correctly with his differences in face color (less now as he's lighter).

#3 Heading up Mt. Dickerman into the fog, amongst summer flowers.

#4 Hoping for some stick time on the hill behind our house. Softened it some.

    #5 Shiny Black Lab pointing.

I love the shots of your pups. No.5 is excellent from a technical standpoint. Artistically it's a bit tight.

In clear sunlight you can forget about getting them both well exposed SOOC. But assuming you shoot a camera with decent dynamic range you can pull the detail from both highlights and shadows in post. Just set up based on incident lighting and shoot. And if you're bound and determined to get it right SOOC then only shoot on overcast days

    Thanks Dan and John.
These were not with my current camera. I may play around with the fuji and it's dynamic range settings. Also need to get out in better light, but eh, life and work and all that.

#5 I cropped out the hand holding a stick. Maybe I should have kept in in for humor

Beautiful dogs. Do you hunt with them?

    Thank you
No hunting (altho very strong pointing and retrieving instincts).
Lots of mountain hiking, they love the water (can smell it), and I used to trail run with them. Less of the trail running as they are now 10.5 years old (but forever puppies in energy). And with Yellow's cancer in the ulna, keeping him a little calmer for the moment.

I love these beautiful dogs... My favorite is #2. I wish that the last image did not cut off the bottom portions of the Lab.

Best of luck with Ulna. Wishing you both the very best...

Nice Clicks. Pets photography is my dream, but never get chance for this.

Thanks . We love them too. Best pups ever.
He goes to Wash State University vet teaching hospital tomorrow. His options are a bit better if it hasn't metastacized in huge amounts, as the ulna is an easier location.
