Spiral staircase - Fat Margaret

Not the classic shot, but one that shows parts of the Tallinn Maritime Museum, which is located in an old artillery tower named "Fat Margaret", that was built into the town wall and was part of the town defenses. Fat Margaret got her name because that her walls were up to 5 m / 16 ft thick (the tower's outside diameter is 25m / 86 ft.

Just because you asked, this is her. She's the one on the left. The one on the right is part of one of the town gates.




These larger medieval ladies are not easy to photograph, even with a 24mm perspective correction lens. The shooting positions are limited and the ones that do exist were hard to use because two large cruise ships were in port and their passengers were all over the old town in Tallinn.

I don't know, but I think she looks pretty good for something from the early 1500's. I believe she had a facelift, in the 1970s or 1980s, so I expect she looked even rougher before that.

It seems like there are different floor on the pic. The stairs and the floor looks like two different universe ahah. I like.
