    Beware, cuteness overload

I have been working on a property in Rosevale Tasmania. They told me they had a resident Echidna there so I have taken my camera for the last two weeks hoping to get some shots of him/her.
I spotted him/her a few times and got a photo or two but nothing special, then today, (my last day there) he/she walked up the driveway while I was having lunch.

Be patient. Be ready. And hey ho, you win the prize.

Excellent pictures of something I never knew existed.

    Thanks Donald.
    Never hear of an Echidna?
Lovely little beastie, one of the few that don't kill you in Australia

I am ashamed to say that I had not. Your post has not only entertained me, it has educated me.

The one you photographed was lovely. I am sure the one I came across on Kangaroo Island last year wanted me to die of a cold. It curled up every time I got in front of it, turned around and started walking the other way. As it was starting to rain heavily it knew time was on it's side. Horrible beastie...

This critter was new to me, too. Wired has some fun facts about it here. Click on over; I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.

Great captures Greg, you certainly made the most of the opportunity!

I think the Echidna is sometimes called the "Spiny Anteater" is it not ?

Not disappointed Janis, some really interesting facts, some I didn't know.
I have seen a mating train once when I was younger, looked pretty funny when you are a kid.
    Thanks for the link
