I hate having my shadow looming across the prairie when taking shots at sunrise. i find it really off putting. How bad the shadow can be is shown by looking at the two shadows on the oat field to the sides. These are from small willow shrubs about 60 cm (two feet) high alongside the road.
For this shot I went so far as to throw myself into a damp ditch, not once but several times. Set the camera up on a tripod and used the self timer. The shadow of the tripod and camera was easily cloned out, much smaller than me.
