Re: Baby Photography
Two thoughts for you, Jagmeet.
1. Get done closer to eye level and shoot from there. That will get you a nicer point of view.
2. You have far too much negative space above the baby's head. Fill the frame.
Here is an example of what an eye-level shot will do for you.

Yeah, you have to get down to their level to really make the image pop like Manfred says.
Personally I find it harder to get up off the floor each time I do that though.

Hi Jagmeet,
I agree with the advice to "get down" and also "fill the frame".
Returning to your picture...
One thing your image does display is a relatively simple, non-distracting background, this can sometimes be achieved via a distant, out of focus, background.
You also "got away with" the text on the T-shirt because so little of it is readable, but from another angle, that would be something to avoid in my opinion.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Baby Photography
Get down or get the baby up a bit
Another way to do it without stressing old bones and muscles is to use a right angle finder (pointing up) or by using an articulating LCD to view the shots. I personally don't like using the LCD with moving subjects but, some folks work with them...
