Cuteness Overload
Prince is a year-old Parti-Colored Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) who weighs about four and a half pounds (about 2-kilograms). He came to us a month ago with a fractured right front leg. After surgery and two casts, he has now been declared "as good as new" by our orthopedic vet. He is leaving us today and will be adopted by our rescue group's President in Los Angeles. You can see the short hair on his right front leg due to the surgery and the cast. That will soon grow in.

Richard - Good images. I think the full body shot is the more interesting as the marking on a dog's body are part of who he/she is. I know that this lad is already claimed, bit these are images that are often linked to looking for homes and as that, they are might fine and powerful images.

Nice, the closeup looks softer in demeanor; the full body somehow makes him look temperamental.

Re: Cuteness Overload
Richard, these are wonderful images -- as always.
I was curious about his weight. I'm not an expert on the weight of small dogs but have always thought of them as more solid than cats. But our somewhat slender cat is 8 pounds. Is 4.5 pounds a normal weight for a Yorkie or was it low because of his medical struggles?

Bruce: The breed standards for Yorkie weight is from 4 to 7 pounds. Prince is on the lower side of those standards but, within the standards. He is not at all skinny, just tiny...
There have been knock-down and drag out fights among Yorkshire Terrier Breeders regarding the Parti-Colored Yorkie. Is it a pure-bred Yorkie and can it be entered in AKC dog shows???
Yes, they are pure-bred Yorkies (as per extensive DNA testing)! Prior to receiving Prince, I had always thought that parti-colored Yorkies were mixtures with other breeds such as a Shihtsu. They can be registered as pure bred Yorkies with the American Kennel Club...
No, they cannot be entered in conformation shows because the Yorkshire Terrier Association which is the parent breed club will not accept them. This is being fought - and will probably be years (if ever) before we see parti-colored Yorkies in shows. However, they are allowed to compete in both AKC obedience and agility trials.
If anyone is interested in the parti-colored Yorkie, this (although somewhat prejudiced) posting has a lot of information.
