I enjoy astrophotography. The other night when I captured M31 and company I was truly cranked. Three galaxies with detail in two out of three. But it wasn't eye candy. With the gear I've got it never will be. To get to 'eye candy' would take a lot of money. Software, EQ mount, tracking scope, really expensive lens and or really expensive telescope, and on and on. Add it all up and your lowest bottom line is two to three thousand dollars.
That is simply more than either my conscience or my wife would agree to. Neither objects to my astrophotography but both say that there are better uses for that kind of money. And they're right. I'll still be doing astrophotography but it will not be Hubble quality. It will be 'wow I captured that faint fuzzy' quality.
Still and all good quality bug and flower shots are not to be sneezed at.
