Helpful Posts: South Falls at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon. Taken late afternoon. South Falls is the tallest and most accessible of 10 waterfalls in the park. A great hiking loop connects them all. I was lucky to catch the sunstreaks in this shot. More luck than skill. Your C&C is welcomed.

Nice shot Tim. It's a slightly unusual composition and perhaps breaks a few “rules” about the main subject of the photo (the falls) being obscured but for me that's not an issue. Thin high falls like that, whilst impressive when you are standing in front of them, tend to be a bit bland when photographed. The trees and light rays really make this image for me.

Geometry is an important aspect of photography, and when you strip away the material to bare bones, this composition is all about the vertical lines made by the tree trunks and the waterfall. The lines made by the rays of light coming in almost at a normal to the physical objects complement the scene quite nicely.
