Very nice images. I am sure that these will be in a prominent place in the family stock of memories,

Re: Family's first baby.
These are interesting images Mike. I find the way that only the baby's face is facing the camera while the parents are looking at the baby works extremely well.
First image - you have made good use of the negative space to the right hand side of the image. The crop on the top and bottom of the image are a bit too tight though.
Second image - The way that the parents heads and bodies create a frame for the baby works very well. Here the crop could be a bit tighter, as there is a lot of headroom above the parents, and this does not add to the composition. The bright spots at the top corners do add an unneeded distraction to the image.

Re: Family's first baby.
I agree with all that Manfred has said - positive and negative.
Against the second you say that it was your first effort at D & B. Was this in relation to the bright spots at the corners? If so, yes I'd agree. I do think the family is well lit and if you applied any D & B there, then it has been well done. The secret about D & B is that no-one ever spots that its been done.
